Official Trailer

Overall, I am negative about this. First off, it doesn't look like they're using an official setting. It just looks like a "programmer setting", or I suppose it would be "cameraman setting" here. (If it were an official setting, the trailer would heavily promote it, e.g. "In the world of Dragonlance..." etc.) So right away you've killed off half the fun of D&D. And they aren't adapting an adventure either, they just have a "programmer adventure", or I guess "cameraman adventure" again. The sfx look meh, there's too much stilted humor, Chris Pine looks good for a thief but everyone else in the cast is a charmless, ugly moron, whereas they could have had an Avengers-like awesome team with cool classes, a freakin' paladin in gleaming armor, a Doctor Strange-like wizard and so on.
The ONLY thing I like about the trailer is the joke at the end, which is brilliant, and brilliantly captures the fun of being at the table and joking with your friends over the proceedings. But they could have achieved so much more with this. There are adventures in D&D that rival or even handily beat Game of Thrones. THAT'S what they should be adapting here.
Cool poster tho: https://twitter.com/LD_Nolan/status/1550145731108880385
It's the famous ampersand studded with famous D&D monsters like the displacer, mimic, owlbear, et al. And the movie's logo itself is the standard D&D 5E logo, which is nice to see.
They could EASILY start a long-running D&D movie franchise if they just took the best trilogies and adapted them. Instead it'll likely be another one-off that no one will remember ten years from now.
