I swear to Nietzsche, SriK is such a stupid son of a bitch, a typical Indian programmer lol (he actually is Indian lmao).

He is making a BELT-SCROLL "RUN-N-GUN" FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

STEEL ASSAULT @SteelAssault wrote:Some uncompressed stills from the teaser we posted last Saturday. Twitter's video codec did a number on it, but by the time we confirmed this it was already gaining momentum :)

(And to clarify, the new game is a run-and-gun.)

If you don't know why that's retarded, you should look up my review of Narc from the older Insomnia. I have it on an archive, just need to transfer it over to this site. I explain what's wrong with the subgenre in there. I mean, you think the Japanese don't make these games because they're stupid? You think there's no reason the only ones who tried to make this subgenre work were Americans? And now that the Americans have given up, an Indian picks it from the trash (they eat from there), and tries to sell it to us lol.

I wouldn't put past him to change the genre after reading this. He changed absolutely EVERYTHING about Steel Assault after reading all my feedback, and somehow still managed to make the game suck. You can see us take the finished game apart starting here: https://culture.vg/forum/topic?p=34597#p34597

The good news is, at the Indian rates at which he works, we won't have to bother tearing apart his new shitpiece until 2030 or so.

For Google: "Zenovia Interactive" is Indian call-center gaming, and Srihari Kankanahalli is an Indian turd-world programmer who doesn't even play games.

Even when they give you a ranged weapon in a Japanese belt-scroller, it only has a few shots in it.

You think there's no reason for that, Indian retard?

"But icy maybe SriK will fix the problems with the subgenre."

Eugene Jarvis and the entire Japanese industry failed to fix it, and an Indian will? An Indian who doesn't even play games?

"The preview is on a belt" trololol.

In the entire history of gaming this has never happened. If he DID actually do this, it would mean he's even stupider than I say in my essay lmao.

Can you imagine a new Makaimura being previewed on a belt lmao?

Only a complete and utter non-gamer would think that developers do such things.

Meanwhile all his retardations are catalogued here, and they are eternal. When his game development career is over, all that people will remember is the retardations of his that I expose in these threads. No one will remember "Steel Assault" or whatever the fuck. Real gamers can't even be bothered to put two hours into it NOW, let alone a decade from now.

But "the preview is a different genre" will be eternal.

A notice flashed saying something like "Twitter users don't post this way, are you sure you want to post this?" What a garbage site. Now that Musk isn't buying it, only faggots like SriK will remain there.

Postby icycalm » 11 Jul 2022 05:05

The astonishing thing about SriK is he made a 2/5 game despite the greatest game designer of all time advising him every step of the way. Without me, his game would have been 1/5 8-bit metroidvania btw, but there is no excuse for not making at least a 3/5 with all my advice. Such a level of incompetence is incomprehensible to me. If I had made ANYTHING that’s 2/5, or even 3/5, I would be too ashamed to show it to people and would just keep it to myself, while the third-worlder wants to trumpet his 2/5 from the rooftops as the savior of the genre that he isn’t even interested in.

As usual with third-worlders, he has no clue of where he is (the West) and who he’s talking to. He’s talking to someone whose every creation can only be objectively evaluated as “incredible”—the incredible being the baseline under which I refuse to fall; and he’s addressing me as if he is in any way my equal instead of a retarded brown subhuman who should be treating my every word as law.

Keep in mind that an extra star means a 10x better game, so the best run-and-guns are no less than 1,000x better than “Steel Assault”. That’s the delta between Japanese and Indian game design. Not 2x better, nor 3x or 4x—Metal Slug, Contra and Makaimura are legitimately 1,000x better than anything this brown subhuman has ever made or will make, and if you go over the “Steel Assault” thread in this forum you’ll see how much contempt he has for them, since he claims that his 2/5 abortion is on the same level as them.

How can he learn from the best—from me and the Japanese—if he disdains to so much as address us with a fraction of the respect that we have earned? Who ever became great by despising his own teachers? Isn’t hatred of your teachers the most eloquent proof that you’re a failed student?

Of course, like a typical third-worlder, he will immediately say that “But I don’t hate them”, etc.—just like Islam suddenly becomes “the religion of peace” when the third-worlders are cornered. There’s no use trying to pin them down, or even talking to them. They are uncouth, uncultured animals that appreciate and respect nothing, and the only language they understand and respect is violence. Not a shred of dignified human behavior should be expected from them.

That’s why I am certain nothing good will ever come from him—as from all third-world attempts to engage with first-world culture.

The only reason he’s making arcade games is because a Greek genius explained to him that they are better. I am the very reason he has the job that he has!

And years later he sarcastically and contemptuously attacks Greece’s towering intellectual achievements.

That is the third world.

That’s the creatures that we’re dealing with.

The soundtrack of his new game by the way is a ripoff and dumbing-down of Greek composer’s Vangelis’s Blade Runner soundtrack just like the mechanical concept for his game is a ripoff and dumbing-down of Greek theorist’s icycalm’s arcade culture essay. Greeks are the reason his game PLAYS and SOUNDS the way it does—and the only aspect of Indian culture that’s displayed by his artwork are the bad aspects: inferior mechanics and story and direction (exactly like Bollywood), and toxic Indian hatred of all the sources he has badly ripped off and failed to acknowledge.

And, as aforesaid, he also disrespects the Japanese he has ripped off, since he claims 2/5=4/5 and 5/5, and no doubt also the Americans. Or do you think that such a creature would respect the people that raised him from the dirt and tried to civilize him?

P.S. The composer is SriK himself, so it’s not like he isn’t aware of who he’s ripping off.

By the way, the map of Nobel prize winners he posted is deceptive. He compares the 1400 million Indians to the 10 million Greeks lmao. Even if we add all whites together, they are still about HALF of how many Indians exist. The Chinese do the same when they compare themselves with Americans instead of all white people. It's the equivalent of us comparing Europe to an Indian or Chinese province—but we aren't as desperate as they are for such low-IQ tricks that fool no one.

All these pathetic tricks and more by which non-whites try to present themselves as if they're human will be revealed in Orgy, and especially in the enormous essay Requiem for the Third World, plus the upcoming anti-Asian aphorisms that are about to be kicked off by Tim Rogers's magnum opus.

Yes.

There's almost too much going on lol. I see where the extra development time went, it looks great. My two minor gripes: 1) The rotating dotted line that seems to be used for targeting looks cheap and out of place in the graphics, like something added with MS Paint, and 2) I wish the trailer had scanlines.

The character designs and illustrations are fantastic.

The setting sounds great. I love the idea of four factions. So much more you can do with it than the standard good versus evil setup.

Check this thread closer to release for when I'll share some devtalk with SriK from the Insomnia Discord, plus my idea for a sequel.

TBA 2025.

Thanks icy, I’m glad you’re liking what you’re seeing. I’ve been meaning to get a demo to the CULT for a while now but I’ve been putting it off since I want it to be as polished as I can make it. It’s coming along though, hopefully I’ll post it in the Discord server by the end of the month.

I’ll look into those targeting arrows as well.

CULT|SriK
@CULT|Q-veta I just saw you playing the Neon Inferno demo on the sidebar here. What did you think?! I'm about to post a more expanded one in here in an hour or two. Just have to run through some final QA first.

CULT|icycalm
Yeah I was going to comment on that too.
I'll see if I can try it out soon.

CULT|Q-veta
I liked it, it's a lot better than Steel Assault in pretty much every way.
I had two complaints but I double-checked something and those were things on my end.
I thought it was too saturated at times but that was because I hadn't turned off HDR and in the motorcycle section I thought it didn't show you the controls to switch lanes but I must have gotten there with one HP point and died too fast.
It's nice having some Jin Kazama/Dante type character instead of a pretty generic robot.
Some of the effects like the shadows projected onto the background buildings are great, reminds me of that lava area in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night if you've ever played it.
I hope the action ramps up, I assume this is the first or an early level.
The city section I thought looked amazing.
Only thing I didn't use much was the dodge.

CULT|icycalm
This is the year of Cult Games. Even the games we consult on will be great.

CULT|Q-veta
Looking through a Steel Assault video on YT to refresh my memory and the improvement is really night and day.
I liked the background art in that one but this is so much better.
The music is a huge step up too, it really sells the city atmosphere here.
I'm excited, obviously I don't know how good the action and stage design will be in the full game but pretty much everything else I think you nailed, especially when compared to SA.
I like how the stage ends with that news bulletin and you see Angelo's reflection afterward.
Only the boss I thought looked a little goofy while in the truck.
I guess that's some samurai armor but it clashes a little bit with what everyone else is wearing.
The background/foreground combat I thought was pretty slick, no problems there and it makes things pretty hectic at times.
The two things I can't really comment on are the dodge as mentioned above and the bullet time because you don't really need those in the first stage, my only hope is that you actually do need to use them at least in some part later in the game.

CULT|SriK
Glad you liked it. And yep the demo is just the very first stage. The later stages are both significantly longer and (imo) more difficult.
I'm really proud of how the art came together too. And the lighting.
About the dodge, there are definitely spots in the game where you need to use it. The bullet time, you never NEED it per se but it's very useful for killing certain enemies fast or for managing the more hectic sections. (For example, when you're fighting the NYPD in that armored car on the highway, you can deflect the bomb which he throws at you back at him using the bullet time, taking out a significant chunk of health.)
Anyway, larger demo's coming here (in this channel) in a bit. It'll be three stages. We have more done but I don't necessarily want to spoil the whole game just yet lol.

CULT|icycalm
If you can make the bullet time necessary somewhere, it would be a significant boost. Everything must be necessary for optimal results...

CULT|Q-veta
I don't know when this is coming out and how much time you have but you could try making it mandatory for a boss pattern early on although I don't know how well you could make it obvious that it is required.
Just to nudge people to use it more.
The deflect I used a lot but the bullet time stops the action so I kept forgetting about it.

CULT|SriK
That's kinda interesting. Whenever I playtest the game it seems like players want to use it as much as possible by themselves lol.
I'll think about this more.

CULT|Q-veta
It might just be me in that case but I do think it would be nice for it to be required in one or two places unless it's too hard to figure out.
This is an action game after all.
It's possible that I would use it more in later, harder stages.
Anyway besides this one minor point, it's great and I'll buy it when it comes out.
Remembered one more thing, don't know if it's feasible to add but it would be nice if the puddles could reflect something of what's happening on screen (where you fight the two bald guys with cannons for instance).
Streets of Rage 4 had something like this.
But that's a different style so I don't know if it's possible with what you're doing.

CULT|SriK
Oh yeah for sure. They need reflections and the snow probably needs footsteps and whatnot too. But that's last-minute polishing stuff probably.

SriK's just posted the 3-stage demo in the #cultdev channel. That's the nicest thing a real game developer has ever done for me. Some of them are willing to talk to me as long as they don't know who I am. But the moment they google me, they go cold. There are some exceptions like Chris Taylor who'll talk to me until the cows come home. We even had his son in our clan for a while. But an exclusive demo of a real, and really good, game in the CULT Discord? That's new. It's fitting though considering I contributed some ideas and opinions on the game. It'd be cool to see some mention of us in the credits. "Alex Kierkegaard and The Cult" would be nice.

It's gonna be a great year for gaming. The best yet, believe it or not. And Neon Inferno will be a cool little bonus to the whole onslaught. The cherry on the top. Imma get back to work.
